My Favorite Clean Beauty Swaps at 50+

What I actually use — nothing fancy, just what works. In my 50s, I’ve simplified everything — especially my beauty routine. I no longer follow trends, chase miracle creams, or feel like I need a drawer full of products. I’ve learned that natural is enough — and that our skin often just wants to breathe and be nourished. Here’s what I actually use and love:

Face Care

I keep it simple:

  • Natural oils like rosehip or jojoba or argan oil

  • Homemade cream made with shea butter, a few drops of essential oil (lavender or frankincense), and a touch of aloe

  • No foundation — I let my skin show, even if it has texture or spots

My skin feels calm, not covered. That’s my version of glow.

Clean Skin, Gently

At night I cleanse with:

  • A warm washcloth

  • A few drops of oil or unscented cleanser

  • And that’s it — no scrubbing, no stripping

Makeup (Or Lack of It)

I don’t wear much, and that’s intentional.

  • If anything, I’ll use a tinted lip balm, a little brown pencil, and maybe a soft blush stick

  • But most days — no makeup at all

Nails & Hair

  • I stopped doing gel nails — now I keep them short, clean, and natural

  • I don’t color my hair anymore — and I’ll talk more about that in the hair section

  • I use simple natural oils oils to hydrate my skin and scalp - shop here

Final Thought

At 50+, clean beauty to me means fewer products, better choices, and more self-trust. You don’t need to be flawless — just free. And sometimes, less truly is more.
